How to Believe You Can Succeed and Achieve Anything
Discover the life-changing impact of believing in your ability to succeed. Find out how this mindset can drive your actions, build resilience, and help you reach new levels in both your personal and professional life.
Hey, thanks for joining for another day of Daily Better You.
It’s Jay here, and today’s newsletter is going to be a special one.
I recently finished reading a book that has profoundly impacted me: "The Magic of Thinking Big" by David J. Schwartz. If you haven’t heard of it, I can’t recommend it enough.
One of the key lessons that stuck with me is the idea that believing in your own success is the first step to achieving it.
Let me share why this concept resonated so deeply with me and how it can change everything for you too.
Let’s dive in!
📜Overview:
Here’s the thing: most people don’t accomplish what they want in life because they don’t believe they can.
We’re conditioned by society, past failures, or even our own doubts to think, “I can’t do that,” “That’s too hard,” or “That’s impossible for me.” But what if you flipped that script? What if you genuinely believed that you could do whatever it is you want—whether it’s starting a business, building a new habit, or achieving a big goal?
The concept is simple: if you believe you can, you’re already halfway there. It sounds like magic, but it’s not. It’s about reprogramming your brain, so you’re no longer sabotaging yourself with doubt.
Think of it this way: if you believe you can move a mountain, you will figure out how to move that mountain. You’ll take steps, day by day, toward that seemingly impossible goal because you’ve convinced yourself that it’s possible.
But if you don’t believe you can? You’ll never even try, or you’ll give up at the first sign of difficulty.
⭐How I Applied It:
In my personal life, this idea has shifted everything.
When I started this newsletter, I knew there’d be challenges. Self-doubt? Yeah, I had plenty of it. I wondered, “Will people even care about what I have to say? Can I really make a difference?”
But here’s the turning point: I decided to believe I could. I brainwashed myself into success.
I told myself that I’m fully capable of delivering valuable, actionable tips to help you become your best self, building an audience—and here we are.
It’s not just theory—it’s practice.
👍How You Can Apply This:
This belief can be applied to anything in your life.
Want to get in shape but feel like you don’t have the discipline? Start by believing you do. Want to start that business but don’t think you’re capable? Begin with the belief that you are.
And yes, even all those techniques we’ve covered in previous newsletters—habit stacking, the 10-minute rule, the one-touch rule and many more—they’re all great, but none of them will stick if you don’t believe you can do it.
It’s not about blind optimism or pretending everything will be easy. It’s about knowing that whatever comes your way, you have what it takes to get through it.
And once you start believing, your actions will follow. You’ll start taking those first steps, and before you know it, you’re already on your way.
🚀Here’s What You Can Do Today:
Identify an Area of Doubt: Think of something you’ve been avoiding or putting off because you don’t believe you can succeed at it. It could be a fitness goal, a work project, or even personal development.
Flip the Script: Take a moment to reframe that doubt. Instead of saying, “I can’t do this,” tell yourself, “I can do this, and here’s why.” List the reasons you’re capable, no matter how small they seem.
Visualize Success: Picture yourself succeeding. What does that look like? How does it feel? Make that mental image as real as possible.
Take One Small Step: Belief isn’t enough on its own—you need action too. Start small, but start today. Whether it’s working out for 10 minutes, making one phone call for your business, or applying one of our previous techniques—just take action!
